The first convocation of IIM Mumbai (Erstwhile NITIE) was held successfully in a grand manner on Jan 27th, 2024 on its campus at 12.00 pm.

The chief guest of the event was Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Honourable Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India and the guest of honour was Shri Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO, National Stock Exchange (NSE). The event was graced by Shri Shashi Kiran Shetty, Chairman BOG, IIM Mumbai, Prof. Manoj Tiwari, Director, IIM Mumbai, and BOG members.

While speaking at the event Shri Pradhan ji complimented the students on receiving their degrees. He expressed his gratitude to honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for taking the initiative to fulfill Mumbai's long-standing demand for a business school by converting NITIE to IIM. This renaming is more than symbolic as it is a catalyst of transformation that will produce the finest human resources, he added.

The event witnessed a total of 1013 students being convocated. This included 32 fellow students, 955 postgraduate students across all postgraduate programs, viz. PGDIE, PGDIM, PGDMM, PGDPM and PGDSM and 26 VLFM students.

Indian Institute of Management Mumbai celebrated the 75th Republic Day on 26th January 2024 at IIM Mumbai Campus in a grand manner. The Cultural Committee of the Institute organized various cultural programs ie. Marathon, Patriotic Songs, etc. The Republic Day celebration started with a Marathon at 07:00 AM at Swami Vivekanand Hall. The flag unfurling ceremony was done by Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwari, Director, IIM Mumbai at 9.00 am at the Academic cum Library Building (ALB). On this occasion, Mass singing of the National Anthem and March passed by Institute Security personnel were conducted. Lt. Cdr (Mrs.) Nisha Singh (Retd), Chief Administrative Officer (Offg.) led the mass reading of the preamble of the Constitution and Voters Pledge.

After the flag unfurling ceremony, the winners of the Marathon were awarded by the Director, Dean (SA), Dean (Acad), Dean (SRIC), Dean (FA), etc. Also, a Certificate of appreciation was given by the Director to the Security Guards who had done commendable services for the institute. The director also honored the students who won trophies in various sports competitions organized by various institutions in Mumbai.

Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwari, Director, NITIE, presided over the function and inspired the audience by enlightening the importance of Republic Day. He also shared his views regarding the various initiatives at IIM Mumbai during the year.

We are delighted to share the success of the two-day workshop on "Re-emergence of Bharatiya Management," organized by the Indian Institute of Management Mumbai and Pragyan Indic Forum on January 20th and 21st, 2024. The workshop was attended by more than 100 participants from academia, industry, and civil society, who came together to explore and learn about the ancient wisdom and values of Bharatiya Management and its contemporary relevance.

The workshop featured eminent speakers such as Prof. B Mahadevan, Shri Ram Madhav, Shri Sandeep Singh, Prof. Ashish Pandey, Prof. Harsh Purohit, Shri Rakesh Kumar, Prof. Manoj Tiwari and Prof. Ranjani, who shared their insights and experiences on various aspects of Bharatiya Management, such as:
- Bharat's Vision for Global Leadership
- Bharatiya Models for Business Leadership
- Social Consciousness in Business Decisions: The Bharat Way

The workshop concluded with a panel discussion on "The Future of Bharatiya Management", where the speakers and the participants discussed the challenges and opportunities for promoting and implementing Bharatiya Management in the global scenario. The panelists agreed that Bharatiya Management is not only a viable alternative but also a necessary complement to the existing management paradigms, as it offers a holistic, humanistic, and ethical approach to business and leadership.

We thank all the speakers, participants, and organizers for making this workshop a memorable and enriching experience. We hope that this workshop will inspire and motivate more people to adopt and practice Bharatiya Management in their personal and professional lives.

IIM Mumbai is proud to announce the launch of the SWAYAM MOOC course on “Supply Chain Digitization” under the directives of the Ministry of Education, Government of India and as a part of our role as the nodal institute for PM GATI Shakti.

As the nodal organization for PM GATI SHAKTI, Indian Institute of Management Mumbai aims at capability building in the domain of Logistics and Supply Chain Management for the country. This ambitious project targets the development of national logistics infrastructure and acceleration of capacity building across industries through efficient and robust logistics, multimodal transportation, state of the art warehousing and digital initiatives in supply chain management.

This course has been developed under the guidance of Director, IIM MUMBAI, Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwari, and will be delivered by three faculty members – Prof. Priyanka Verma, Prof. Sushmita Narayana and Prof. Debabrata Das.

Supply chains are increasingly becoming digital with the easy availability of data related to operations and purchases, payments getting digitized, and the advent of the platform economy. While data visibility helps streamline operations, supply chains face complexities due to variabilities that span industries, markets, and geographies. This course aims to equip the participants with an introduction to the potential of digitalization in supply chains and provide more insights into the applications of analytics in supply chain management.

Indian Institute of Management Mumbai organized a two-day Management Development Programme on "Excellence in Communication."

Self-awareness leading to autonomy is essential in staying connected with the present. In this pursuance, personal communication style, listening skills, oral communication, interpersonal and group communication, emotional intelligence and written communication have their role. By weaving these threads, a two-day management development program on the topic "Excellence in Communication" was organized by the Indian Institute of Management Mumbai from January 8 to January 9, 2024.

Under the guidance of Prof. Manoj Tiwari, Director, IIM Mumbai, the programme was coordinated by Prof. Nikhil Kewal Krishna Mehta, Associate Professor (Organizational Behavior and Human Resources). Shri Jagdish Ram Pauri, Joint Director (Official Language), Ministry of Education, Government of India, was present as the Chief Guest at the inauguration of this programme. He expressed his views on the promotion, importance and encouragement of Rajbhasha Hindi. Shri Aftab Alam, Hindi Officer, started the program with a welcome address. Prof. Vivek Anand Khanapuri, Dean (SRIC) and Lt. Cdr. (Ms.) Nisha Singh, Chief Administrative Officer (Officiating), emphasized the need for excellence in communication skills.

On the occasion of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, celebrated as National Youth Day each year, IIM Mumbai organised a lecture by Dr Vijay Chauthaiwale on 'Changing global order and critical role of New India in Amrit Kaal'.

Dr Vijay spoke about impact of Swami Vivekananda's thoughts on nation building in New India and also commented at length on India's foreign policy in recent years.
